This quaint little structure, built by many volunteers, held its first band concert in July of 1995. One local historian described it as "concerts on the green, a Norman Rockwell scene."

Every July and August, families arrive with blankets and picnic suppers to be entertained by the local band. 

In the background can be seen the Dennis Union Church, built in 1836.

Since then, evening concerts, once a week during the summer, have played to large and enthusiastic audiences.

Built and rebuilt, and moved and renovated since its origin in 1887, this quaint old structure in the center of Ocean Park is now a landmark in a village full of landmarks. 

Oak bluff's Victorian houses attract visitors from nearby Cape Cod as well as from around the world. Originally called Cottage City, Oak Bluffs is only a short bike ride from the ferry terminal at Vineyard haven but it's like stepping into another world. Not far from this bandstand, rows of tiny Victorian Cottages in bright colors and ornate trim have been the subjects of a million photos and uncounted paintings.

Chatham's first bandstand, built in the early 30's, was across from the Epicure, where there is now a town parking lot. The present bandstand was built in the early 50's. It was named after conductor Whit Tileston, on his 80th birthday. 

Every Friday during the summer, free concerts are given from 8:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m., and seasonal attendance is in the thousands. 

Children love the bandstand whether it's in use or not, and more than a few grown-ups—brides and grooms included—have pleasant memories associated with the quaint little structure.

Free concerts at the Nauset Beach bandstand draw big crowds each summer. On Cape Cod, young and old alike love this seaside attraction. 

One Cape Codder says he remembers the bandstand in the 1920s being located near The Snow Library where Friendly's Market is now. Later it was moved to the ball field at Eldredge Park. In the early sixties when The Cape Cod Baseball League was established, the bandstand was moved to Nauset Beach where it now resides.

Karen painted this picture for The Orleans Chamber of Commerce so that they could raffle the original and use the image for the program for "Pops in The Park," a musical production hosted by The Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra at Eldredge Park for hundreds of people. The proceeds from this event are used annually for a $10,000 scholarship for a deserving student.
